BBC America isn't the only place to use subtitles for 'English'. It's sad. They're now using subtitles for anyone who's speaking 'English' with an accent (sometimes heavy, sometimes not). I guess the plethora of subtitles is for 'merican English.

Although have to give kudos to Travel Channel for letting Masaharu Morimoto (Japanese Iron Chef) just speak on Anthony Bourdain's 'No Reservations'. I was surprised to hear him speak *fluent* English!
Yes, very heavy accented - but I understood everything he was saying. So Food Network thinks that those mid-Westerners who watch can't understand - and thus always dub his voice when he presents his food on Iron Chef.

Yeah, I'm surprised at how people can't understand fairly basic British accents (someone was complaining he couldn't understand Catherine Tate's "Lauren Cooper" chav character, for example).
