Mystery Date

[Error: unknown template video]

Yesterday, someone put up a link to this fantastic old Milton Bradley commercial, which we are actually ancient enough to remember seeing on a genuine black & white teevee.

But it got us thinking: Mystery Date proffered a variety of "good" dates, like a preppy dude, and some twit dressed in ski pants. But, the game's "dud" date (which would make you lose all your cards) was the nerd.

Since tiki is a nerd, we actually ended up marrying a fellow nerd (the bodacious [livejournal.com profile] mr_tikistitch), who, aside from being cute and smart, actually holds a steady job at a dot.com.

What exactly is the "dreamy" ski bum date doing nowadays?

Bite me, Mystery Date.

God, how many years did that ad run? I was never sure whether the girls were brain-damaged, or there was something terribly wrong with me.

I actually got to play it once. The stupid door thing didn't work half the time.

See, I think we need an updated version of that game which includes potential dates for our impressionable young girl like, say, a really old millionaire (a la Anna Nicole), a guy wearing nothing but a dog collar, and another woman. Whatta ya say?

Whatever he's doing, I bet it doesn't involve getting to have a lifesized Boba Fett and Darth Vader and a giant Death Star.

Do you think the Mystery Date girls would go to a Purity Ball *before* their Mystery Date?

man you've just gotten my 'girl junk' icon of disgust.. *grin*

omg!! that is JUST WRONG.. hee hee.. I've never seen the commercial (the game of life oth, was something I recall and thought was just dumb) I agree with the poster that is wondering if the girls in the commercial are brain damaged or something..

oh.. and the guys in the commercial? aren't they a bit ILLEGAL in age compared to the girls that are being merchandised to? yikes! I'm pretty sure the child molester laws weren't as strict but the guys look 18-24 or something and the girls look like they are in Jr High.. weird.

ps: why doesn't mr. tikistitch post more?? I've been looking at his "STAR WARS" underoo post long enough I think we should all (the 4 of us) meetup for dinner at Staples.. *giggle*

Hehehe, it makes me think of the Simpsons. "Milhouse got the dud!" Or something like that.

Then there's the REN AND STIMPY take on this game, from the episode where Ren's cousin Sven Hoek comes to visit: Misery Date!
