EMI

Mumbai Night Fever

EMI ("Easy Monthly Installment") is a film about how credit debt is bad.

No, I am absolutely not kidding.

And, it was actually pretty good. There are four parallel stories, of more or less interest, about people who get into debt. Arjun Rampal (above) is a struggling musician who's also a pathological liar. He gets to hog most of the musical numbers. The other stories didn't make a lot of impact. What did make an impact was Sanjay Dutt as a mob-type collection agent who ends up playing Mary Worth for all the debtors. The guy is a delight to watch!

Sanjay falls in love with a pretty girl (the lovely Urmila Matondkar), and has Arjun set them up (despite Arjun having completely lied about knowing the girl), and then coach him in romance. Their resulting first date between paunchy, middle-aged Sanjay and Urmila is completely sweet and adorable! And if you look below, he even knows how to really mime guitar playing!
