When you are a D list celebrity like tikistitch, life is not always normal! People we barely know will rush up to us and ask, "Oh, tell us, Miss Tiki, how do you get to Tukwila from here? We are going to the airport and fear we missed our turnoff!"

And then sometimes, they also ask, "So, you think you're Miss Smarty Pants with all the Stitchies. Betcha there's some your missing, huh huh? Betcha there are!! Betcha there are!!!"

Well, that is true, young pumpkin.

We have shown you enough tales of the awesomeness of our spouse's mad claw machine skillz that we believe when we show this documentary evidence, and state that even after such a superhuman effort, in this case, Mr. Tiki failed to win the Stitchie, then you will be able to conclude, this particular arcade obviously employed unethical and completely illegal UFO Catcher Gremlins secretly working to thwart him.

So, we do not have Happy Butt Stitch.

What, you may ask, is Happy Butt Stitch?

This is he.

But, it will be all right. We are working with a licensed primal scream therapist, and we believe with time, and handfulls of psychoactive drugs, we will finally work past the pain.

Took this in the window of Yamashiroya, and then forgot about it, and then remembered it again.

It's a million billion billion billion Kewpies.

And, there were even more kinds inside!

Japan is such a mindfuck.

Had any of these guys considered, ya know, taking the next train?

A friend purchased this piece & doesn't know what it means (it's on a shirt). Anybodies?

So, our favorite thing to do in Japan, after shopping for Stitch, and buying Stitch, and seeing Stitch in the Enchanted Tiki Room, and directing our spouse to win Stitch in claw machines...is of course eating!!!

So, we went out to a complex of malls outside Tokyo that you get to on the monorail. We always refer to it as "the place by the Statue of Liberty," 'cause they've also got one of those, and they've also got a huge ferris wheel, which you can literally see from the train to Tokyo Disney.

Soooo, even though the Tikis have now been married for thirteen thoroughly silly years, like all relationships, there are conflicts! Example: when we go a a-UFO catching, we work as a pretty good team, in that Mr. Tiki likes the process of winning stuff, and tiki just plain likes prizes, especially for us.

HOWEVER! Sometimes there is an asynchronicity in that whereas our spouse wants to play what is in his opinion the funnest claw machine, we really don't care as long as the prizes within are of sufficient kawaii-itude. So, we had to do a bit of persuasive effort here: we were seeing this humongous Scrumpie plushies everywhere, but it took a convergence of Big Ass Plushie plus three-prong claw machine challenge (plus, need we add, several visits to the 100-yen coin machine) to finally bring our objectives in line.

This arcade was located near our hotel in Ikebukuro, by the way, a place of a quite high Stitch Density Factor. At the end of this this claw machine-lined street, the Sunshine City mall includes a Toys R Us store as well as a (smallish) Disney store, plus at least one accessory store that features a lot of Stitch chara goods.

This was another item that we decided was too big and bulky to bother shipping. It's like a big kid-sized nylon playhouse thingie. Maybe if it has Stitch ears.

But then Mr. Tiki goes, "You don't want to buy STITCH'S TUNNEL OF DEATH?" Which totally made us want to buy one.

So, the last evening in Tokyo, our friend Yoda-san took us out on the monorail to a complex of malls on the outskirts. We think of it as Aqua City, though that's probably just the name of one of the many areas. Anyways, look what we found!

OK, so it's a crap photo. (It's dollies with Stitch ReMent stuffs. They actually have this in one of their display cabinets.)

Mr. Tiki was asking what's the deal with dolls in coffins. We tried to explain the whole goth thing ("You're much cooler when you're dead!!!), but probably didn't communicate it well. We blame jet lag.

Ever feel like you're being watched?

Ginormous Scrumpies too! Though, this game looked rigged, at least, nobody seemed to be having any luck.

OK, so, first order of business after an approximately 8,567 hour flight was get ourselves something to eat. 'Cause, hunger. Like, maybe some giant gyoza?

But, you wanna see what we got, right?

So, we're starting off with UFO catcher machines, because, that's how tiki started off this trip, with a great Damn-the-humidity-full-speed-ahead charge into the Arcade district of Ikebukuro.

First off, you need to find a UFO catcher machine. THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT! Here's what we usually did: went out the front door of the hotel, turned right. Some days, you might go out the front door of your hotel, and turn left!!!

Strong quake shakes Southern California

LOS ANGELES - A strong earthquake shook Southern California on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway and triggering some precautionary evacuations. No immediate damage was reported.

The jolt was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and slightly in Las Vegas.

Preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey estimated the quake at magnitude 5.8, centered 29 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills in San Bernardino County.

Keep forgetting to mention this: there were not one but TWO earthquakes whilst we were in Tokyo. We completely missed the first one 'cause of talking with fellow geeks about geekdom (that's what growing up in Cali will do to you). The second we noticed, when we were all at the BBQ place waiting for our plates o' meat. (Yeah, we went to one of those places like in Lost in Translation. It was OK.) Anyway, regarding the quake and or aftershock, we asked if it meant Gojira was coming. (Hey, we were at the seaside!!!) Speaking of which, we were kinda disappointed that our hotel didn't have any evacuation instructions in case of attack by giant robots.

Look out!

Mascots from Matsumoto.

Heading down to Tokyo in a bit for Celebration. We'll be around setting up stuffs this afternoon, then probably around all day tomorrow (Saturday), hanging out at the collecting panels in the afternoon.
tikistitch: (Default)

This is our newest, coolest Stitch item, the carry on bag!

See? It's got Stitchies crawling all over it. And, it's even for grownups.

Japan = awesome.
tikistitch: (Default)
So, after touring Matsumoto Jo today, we headed to the shinkansen to zip down to nearby Saku City. Their Aeon shopping mall has a Stitch store, and they have many Stitchies there. Many many many Stitchies. Many many many many MANY many many Stitchies. It's kinda insane.

Anyways, after the really nice shop girls had toted up the damage and sent us on our way, our loyal Stitch sherpa, Mr. Tiki, already tottering under the weight of 16 tons o' Stitch, wandered over towards the pet store that was across the hallway. "You gotta see this!" he urged.

The pet store was full of Stitch! We groaned, and then got this stuff, a Stitchie leash, Stitchie pet bowls, and a little outfit so you can totally embarrass your doggie.

Going to find sushi now. Stitch shopping is hard work!
